Terms of Use

A short note on what this site is, and how you can use it.

Last updated: April 2026

1. About the Service

SectionTables.com is a free online collection of reference tables, calculators and short technical notes for practising structural engineers and students. By using the site you accept the terms below.

2. A note on translations

English and Polish are written and maintained by the author. The other languages (German, Czech, French, Italian, Spanish) are machine-translated. The translations are reviewed before publishing, but may still contain awkward phrasing or small inaccuracies in technical terminology. If you spot something off, please let me know through the Contact page — corrections go out quickly.

3. Accuracy and use in real projects

The content is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Numerical results are an aid to engineering judgement, not a substitute for it — a qualified engineer should verify any result before it is used in a real project. If you spot a mistake, the Contact page is the fastest way to let me know.

4. Standards

Tables and calculators follow the Eurocodes (EN 1992, EN 1993 and related parts). The Eurocodes themselves are copyrighted by CEN and its national members, so this site publishes only derived values and formulae — never the standards’ text or tables verbatim. For a final design, always consult the current official version of the relevant standard.

5. Copyright

All original content on the site — wording, layout, icons, generated tables, source code, images — is the property of the author. You are welcome to view, print and reference pages for your own engineering work, study or reports. Please do not republish or redistribute larger parts of the site without written permission.

6. No accounts, no advertising or behavioural tracking

The site does not require an account, does not use advertising networks, does not use retargeting pixels and does not embed social-media trackers. Your visits are not profiled across sessions or across other sites. A short-lived signed token is issued in the browser to keep the data tables usable for humans and reasonable for the server; it is not a cookie and carries no personal information.

7. Privacy-preserving analytics

For visit counting and performance measurement the site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics — a small script that reports the page URL, the referring URL, your country (derived from your IP at Cloudflare’s edge; the IP itself is not stored), browser type, and timing data such as how long the page took to render. The script does not set any cookies, does not use local storage, does not fingerprint your browser, and does not follow you across days or across other sites. “Unique visitors” are estimated using a daily-rotating salted hash that cannot be reversed and changes every 24 hours, so even the analytics has no way to recognise you between days. The data is visible only to the author, is not sold or shared with advertisers, and is not joined with other Cloudflare customers’ data. Cloudflare’s privacy notice for this product is described at https://blog.cloudflare.com/privacy-first-web-analytics/.

8. How the language is chosen on your first visit

On your first visit, the site opens in the language that best matches you. It looks first at a previously saved "lang" cookie, then at your browser’s Accept-Language header, and finally at the country that the hosting provider (Cloudflare) associates with your IP address for that single request. If none of these points to a supported language, the site falls back to English. The IP address is used only in-flight for this country lookup and is not stored. Once you pick a language yourself (see the next section), your saved choice takes precedence over everything above.

9. Preferences

When you pick a language from the switcher, your choice is saved in a small functional cookie (named "lang", valid for one year) and mirrored in your browser’s local storage, so the site opens in that language next time. The dark / light theme choice is stored in local storage only. These preferences contain just the selected value and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings. Because they are saved only in response to your own click, no separate consent banner is shown.

10. Contact form

If you send a message through the Contact form, the message itself — together with your optional name and email, the page you wrote from, the selected language, and your IP and user-agent — is kept in a simple log so that I can reply and keep spam out. Messages are kept for up to 12 months after my last reply and then deleted on a rolling basis. You can ask me to delete your message earlier at any time — just write from the same email or reference the earlier message. Nothing else is done with this data and it is not shared with anyone.

11. What this site does not do

For clarity: the site does not use Google Analytics, advertising networks, retargeting pixels, behavioural-profiling analytics or social-media trackers. It will never send you marketing or promotional email. Your visits are not profiled across sessions, and your data is not sold, shared or licensed to anyone. External sites linked from articles have their own policies, which I do not control.

12. Changes

These terms and the site itself may be updated from time to time. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated version.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms, permission requests or copyright notices are welcome through the Contact page.
